In the 7th Edition, Games workshops published some Codex Supplements that contained quite a lot of Fluff but only very few rules and crunch. Among them was the Iyanden Supplement, which I am very happy about, because it was my favourite Craftworld even before I read the Book.
The story of Iynaden is pretty simple: Once the Craftworld, the “Light in the Darkness” was the biggest and oldest of all. Then the Tyrandis came and devoured 4/5th of it’s population and devastated hughe parts of the Craftworld. Now the Dead outnumber the living and Iynanden often fields Wraith Constructs in it’s battles. A pretty simple story and a good explanation why there’s a Craftworld that uses more Wraith-Constructs than the others.
The Supplement adds quite a lot of detail to this story and by doing so, it deepens the idea of Iyanden and even of the Craftworld Aeldari as a whole. I really really enjoyed reading it, because it made Iyanden so much deeper and tangible. Some day I would really dive into Iynanden with my own Characters, Stories and Battles …
