“My honoured Brother and dearest Colleague,
we are lost. I don’t believe we will ever see Fenris again. I do know as a matter of fact, that our Name Stone has been removed from the Grand Annulus, that many Brothers in the Fang and even the Great Wolf himself consider us dead, or worse.
And when I look back at the decades of our Voyage, I do sometimes think, that it might have been a better fate, if my Company would have fallen in Combat long ago, because we have seen the Worst. Many of my Wolves think, that these days are the Cometh of the Wolftime, and I deeply hope, that they are right, because … if they are wrong, and these are not the days, when Russ returns to us, then … even Mankind might be lost.
But everythings not lost, yet. And although I am no Skjald, and never have been a good taleteller, I am eager to write down the Saga of my Great Company for you, so that our deeds may not be lost, and maybe even not forgotton. It all started, when Isbrand rose up to be a Wolfguard. But I will tell you about that in my next letter.
Until then I hope, this letter find’s you well. My exanimations on the specimen I was able to gather after our last battle are going well and I think, I made some remarkable progress, but I need some more data to validate my assumption. I hope your own studies are going well, and we’ll meet soon.
The Allfathers humble servant,
Willem Coldwind”
The Wolf Priest layed down the tabletum. Although there was no one in this part of the galaxy to take interesst in such a message, Willem stuck to his habbit of encrypting all confidential communication. While the machine encrypted the message, Willem’ thoughts went back to his early days as a Space Wolf.
